Tedeschi “Marne 180” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2020 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Tedeschi The Amarone that knows how to surprise. This is how the Tedeschi winery managers describe this ‘Marne 180’, Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG produced with grapes from the Valpolicella hills. In this case, the areas of origin are different, and this is particularly important because it makes for a well-balanced wine with good structure. The curious name recalls the typology of the soils, marl, and their south-west to south-east exposure expressed in degrees, i.e. about 180. The blend chosen by Tedeschi includes 35% Corvina and Corvinone grapes, then 20% Rondinella and 10% Rossignola, Oseleta, Negrara and Dindarella. After vinification, the wine matures for almost three years, 30 months to be precise, in Slavonian oak barrels. Then, after bottling, follows a further phase of refinement in the bottle for no less than 6 months. Intense ruby colour, with a slight amber tinge, it is clear and transparent to the eye. On the nose, vanilla and ethereal notes, linked to the period of barrel ageing. Then sweet fruit, such as currant, blueberry, cherry, typical for grape varieties. In the mouth, finally, one discovers a beautifully structured wine, round and warm. Well balanced, all the previously perceived notes can be found on the palate. A long-lasting wine, it requires intense matching. Excellent, however, also as a meditation wine, with which to stay up late in the evening while chatting with friends.
