Sardus Pater “Terre Fenicie” Vermentino di Sardegna DOC 2022 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Sardus Pater Take a sunny vineyard not too far from the sea, where the air is laden with iodine and the scent of wild herbs. Take a typical grape variety capable of producing extraordinary wines. If all this happens in Sardinia, the grape variety can only be Vermentino. Just like this Terre Fenicie, Vermentino di Sardegna DOC, proposed here by Cantine Sardus Pater. A 100% Vermentino white, produced from grapes harvested at sea level in Basso Sulcis, in the coastal area of south-west Sardinia. Here the average age of the vines used is 15 years and the harvest takes place during the first week of September. In the cellar, the grapes are initially left to macerate cold in contact with the skins for a period of about 10 hours at a controlled temperature. This is followed by alcoholic fermentation, again carried out in steel at a controlled temperature, and refinement in the bottle for 3 months. Terre Fenicie presents itself in the glass with a beautiful straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, the wine offers aromas of particular finesse. Floral and fruity with notes of elderflower and white peach. On the palate, however, it is ample and soft, with a good balance between fruit and freshness. The aftertaste, finally, recalls clear mineral touches. Served at a temperature of 8-10°C, it is perfect with raw fish dishes, shellfish and crustaceans.
