Santa Sofia Lugana DOC 2022 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Santa Sofia

£14.50

Santa Sofia Lugana DOC 2022 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Santa Sofia It is the most appreciated of the white wines of the lower Lake Garda area. A DOC, that of Lugana, which the Veneto shares with nearby Lombardy. The grapes, 100% Trebbiano di Lugana, come from the estate’s beautiful vineyards in Santa Sofia, which are located not too far from the shores of the lake, with roots that sink into the sandy soils, perfect for this variety. Super soft vinification and respectful of the raw material, this Lugana presents itself in the glass with a beautiful straw yellow colour, with bright greenish reflections. The nose is surprising for its elegance and refinement, with finely floral notes reminiscent of broom and wisteria. Then hints of almonds and minerals. In the mouth, on the other hand, it reveals itself to be a perfectly harmonious wine, with a good alcohol content and a natural freshness due to its natural acidity. The finish is clean, long and savoury, making it perfect for traditional pairings with fish dishes, both from the lake – after all, Garda is just a stone’s throw away – and from the sea. The more mature Lugana wines, on the other hand, also go well with more fatty fish, such as eel, mussels and lobsters.
