Champagne J. Charpentier Tradition Brut – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 J. Charpentier The region of origin is the Vallée de la Marne. We are obviously in Champagne, and the village is Villers-sous-Chatillon. Here, the Charpentier Maison has specialized in producing excellent Blanc de Noir, or white Champagnes that come only from the vinification of black grapes. A fine example is this 2016 Tradition Brut Champagne, the child of 95 percent Pinot Meunier, with a small addition of Pinot Noir. Traditional Champagne, vinification of the bases takes place only in thermoregulated vats, and after alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation always follows. Then the bases are blended and bottled, with a partial addition of reserve wines. Foaming and aging continue for 18 to 24 months. In the glass it is a beautiful light gold color, with fine, abundant bubbles. The nose is nicely fresh, with distinct hints of citrus, even candied citrus, to which a slight roastiness is added. In the mouth it is pleasant and round. With just the right softness to become an unforgettable aperitif.
