Cascina Chicco Barbera d’Alba DOC “Granera Alta” 2023 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Cascina Chicco The pure Barbera proposed here by Cascina Chicco is called Granera Alta. Grapes come from Castellinaldo d’Alba, one of the most vocated areas for the production of this vine, so much so that there are documented traces of vines present on these hills since the middle of the 18th century. Harvesting begins at the end of September. The yield per hectare is kept deliberately low so that the grapes harvested are well concentrated and rich in sugars. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and, after racking, ageing in traditional containers for about six months. The result is a wine that is rich and intense in colour, characterised by a fresh and fragrant bouquet reminiscent of underbrush and sour cherries, with a final light note of oriental spices. In the mouth, the wine offers considerable power, softened however by a pleasant smoothness given by the rich, juicy fruit. It easily accompanies richly flavoured dishes, including meat dishes. Excellent, finally, with soft, fat and fresh cheeses.
