Cantine SanSteva e Poggio dei Gorleri Moscatello di Taggia Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC 2021 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Cantine SanSteva e Poggio dei Gorleri Halt, everyone. What we are proposing here is certainly not the ‘usual white from the territory’. What we propose here, if anything, is a real oenological gem. A golden treasure from Liguria. Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC, SanSteva’s Moscatello di Taggia comes from an area with a vocation for viticulture, where the climate is mild and breezy. Moscatello di Taggia, an indigenous grape variety of western Liguria, has been cultivated on these lands for centuries. The carefully selected bunches are harvested by hand at the right degree of ripeness to preserve the freshness and varietal aromas. Vinification in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, followed by six months of ageing in steel. The wine then rests for a further two months in the bottle, refining and acquiring complexity. Straw yellow colour with golden reflections. The nose offers an explosion of intense aromas typical of Muscat: white flowers such as jasmine and orange blossom, citrus fruits such as lime and cedar, fresh fruit such as peach and apricot, combined with delicate notes of honey and vanilla. On the palate, the wine conquers with its softness balanced by a lively freshness, a persistent minerality and a long, satisfying finish.
