Cantina Bolzano “Puntscheit” Kerner Alto Adige DOC 2023 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Cantina Bolzano Let’s start with the grapes. Kerner is a cross between two varieties: Trollinger and Riesling. Created in Weinsberg, Germany, around 1930, it is a grape variety that is perfectly suited to the climate and soils of Alto Adige. It prefers the light, gravelly, sandy soils of the higher slopes. And it loves beautiful exposures, just like those it enjoys in the vineyards of the Valle Isarco. This vine is characterised by a rather late ripening period and is harvested at the beginning of October. And when it reaches perfect ripeness, it is capable of producing full-bodied and pleasantly aromatic wines. Just like this Puntscheit, Alto Adige DOC, which Cantina Bolzano produces using only stainless steel containers to preserve the freshness of the initial fruit. Straw yellow with greenish highlights, the nose is intense and aromatic. It is easy to distinguish hints of peach and apricot, accompanied by a pleasant spiciness that may remind one of nutmeg. In the mouth it is dry, full, savoury and fresh. Excellent as an aperitif, it is the ideal accompaniment to light appetizers, freshwater fish or seafood.
