Canneta Sant’Antimo DOC 2021 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Canneta

£12.00

Canneta Sant’Antimo DOC 2021 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Canneta The other wine of Montalcino. We are talking about Sant’Antimo DOC, a wine that certainly does not have the popularity of the noble Brunello but which has several affinities with it. The area of Brunello di Montalcino is relatively small, that of Sant’Antimo, on the other hand, is larger and includes ‘also’ the territory of Montalcino. Brunello, then, can only be produced from Sangiovese while other varieties are also allowed in the production of Sant’Antimo. Lastly, the minimum ageing period, which in the case of Brunello must be at least 5 years (of which at least 2 in oak barrels), while Sant’Antimo wines can be marketed younger. In the case of this red wine, in particular, the production area corresponds to the Podere Canneta area of Montalcino, with plants planted at over 400 metres above sea level. Sangiovese 60% and Cabernet Sauvignon for the remainder, this Tuscan red matures in barriques for at least a year before being bottled and put on the market. Deep red in colour, the nose is pleasantly fruity, with notes of red and dark fruit, well ripe but still crisp. In the mouth, however, it is harmonious and intense. Pleasantly tannic and well balanced in all its components. It is the right red to accompany elaborate dishes, red meats and cheeses.
