Bouchié-Chatellier Pouilly-Fumé “Argile ì Silex” 2023 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Bouchié-Chatellier Pouilly-Fumé AOC Argile ì Silex by Bouchié-Chatellier is a perfect example of the style of Loire whites. It is no coincidence that we are in Saint-Andelain, a region renowned for its quality wines. Pure Sauvignon Blanc, the soils of Saint-Andelain offer a unique environment for growing Sauvignon Blanc. The soils here are rich in clay, silica and limestone. And it is these particular characteristics that give the wine a distinctive complexity and minerality, which are reflected in its aromas and flavours. Vinification takes place with great care to respect the raw material, with controlled fermentation and ageing on yeasts to enhance the wine’s complexity. In the glass it is clear and brilliant in colour, while the nose reveals intense aromas of fruit and mineral notes. In the mouth, however, it is characterised by a fresh and lively attack, supported by a pleasant acidity that provides balance and structure. Cedar and lime tones intertwine harmoniously with a long, persistent aftertaste finish. Thanks to its versatility and beautiful complexity, Bouchié-Chatellier’s Pouilly-Fumé AOC Argile ì Silex lends itself to various pairings. Ideal as an aperitif, it goes well with light starters and vegetable-based first courses. An excellent companion for fish and shellfish dishes, hard cheeses and quality cured meats.
