Bersano Barbaresco DOCG 2018 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.50 Bersano

£20.90

Bersano Barbaresco DOCG 2018 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.50 Bersano The other side of Paradise (of wine lovers). We are in Piedmont, in the Langa, to the right of the Tanaro river. Here on the hills of Barbaresco, from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, comes the other great red wine of the region. If Barolo is known as the wine of kings, Barbaresco has always been considered more delicate and somewhat feminine (if this distinction still makes sense). What is certain, however, is that this great red wine acquires a harmonious, velvety and elegant taste with ageing in wood. Specifically, Bersano, after vinification in steel, matures this wine for at least 18 months in large oak barrels, giving it time to smooth out its edges and acquire a pleasing complexity. In the glass, it has a beautiful intense garnet red colour. The nose is characterised by notes of morello cherry, currants, cocoa and violets. All accompanied by a characteristic reminiscence of tar, typical for the important reds of the region. In the mouth, it is rich and persistent, with soft tannins and hints of leather, liquorice and pepper. Over everything, however, returns the classic note of wilted violets and ripe plums that experts like so much. On the table it accompanies game, red meat and in general elaborate main courses or cheeses with a strong flavour.
