Belisario Pecorino Terre di Chieti IGP 2023 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Belisario There are several, admittedly bizarre, theories about the reason for the name Pecorino. An indigenous grape variety of central Italy, between the Marche and Abruzzo regions, Pecorino is most likely simply “the wine of the shepherds”. This vine has recently been rediscovered, as in the past it was relegated to increasingly restricted territories due to its reduced productivity, but today it is increasingly appreciated for its natural pleasantness. The one proposed here by Belisario comes from grapes harvested in vineyards over 20 years old and is vinified by the company’s sister company in Abruzzo, in the viticultural heart of Pecorino. The label reads Terre di Chieti IGT. Vinified in steel, with strict temperature control, after fermentation, and before being bottled, the wine rests for no less than 5 months in steel tanks waiting to reach the right maturity. Bright straw yellow in the glass, this wine is characterised by a marked freshness that makes it ideal for more than one occasion. Excellent as an unconventional aperitif, this white wine from the Marche region is the ideal companion for fish dishes. Such as cod, typical for this region, or the classic grilled fish.
