Attilio Ghisolfi “Pinay” Pinot Nero Langhe DOC 2016 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Attilio Ghisolfi Langhe Pinot Noir Pinay by Ghisolfi is a 100% Pinot Noir and represents a small experiment for the Piedmontese winery in the area of vinification of varieties not linked to the territory. An experiment that, incidentally, we can consider decidedly successful. The grapes come from vineyards located in Monforte d’Alba, in the Visette area. Plants about 20 years old, and therefore now at their best, at full maturity. Maceration lasts about 9 days, of which the first 48 hours at a controlled temperature, and vinification is accurate and careful. Then, after racking, follows a maturation phase divided into two stages. Part in small oak barrels, for about 6 months, and part in stainless steel. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful ruby red colour with garnet hues. The nose reveals ample and finely fruity aromas, with clear hints of cherry and sweet spices. In the mouth it is warm, ample and with pleasantly fruity notes reminiscent of small red fruits. The tannins are sweet and soft, with an almost silky finish. An excellent wine today, but with evident ageing potential. Because of its special characteristics of elegance and balance due to its moderate structure, it requires a not excessively demanding pairing. Excellent, for example, with vegetarian dishes or with white meat main courses.
