San Michele Appiano Riesling “Fallwind” Alto Adige DOC 2023 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 San Michele Appiano Either you love it. Or one does not understand it. In any case, it is difficult to remain completely indifferent in front of a glass of Riesling. Especially when this noble grape variety of Teutonic origin comes from Alto Adige, a terroir of exceptional adoption. Riesling needs special environmental conditions to give its best. Conditions that are present in the area of the volcanic lake of Monticolo, and from where wines with a special character come from. We are located between 480 and 550 metres above sea level, with optimally exposed vines lying on slopes facing south, south-east. Fermentation in stainless steel containers and ageing on the lees for about 5 months. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful greenish yellow colour, with intense aromas of white peach and apricot. In the mouth it is very fresh but well balanced. Noble and pleasantly mineral. Excellent throughout a meal, it goes well with light fish dishes as well as with Asian cuisine and vegetable-based recipes. Also a pleasure in combination with goat’s cheese.
