La Tordera Valdobbiadene DOCG Superiore di Cartizze Dry – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 La Tordera Of the vineyard on the Cartizze hill, the top of production for La Tordera, and more generally for the Valdobbiadene DOCG appellation, Pietro, the founder of the Vettoretti family for more than 80 years, wants to take personal care. Exactly as his ancestors did before him. From this little jewel in the province of Treviso comes Cartizze Dry, the fruit of a fortunate combination of elements, land, climate and tradition. The vineyard, to be precise, is located on Colle Tordera, in the Cartizze basin, in the municipality of Valdobbiadene. A small handkerchief of land of about one hectare that lies 260 metres above sea level. Here the yields are kept lower and the grapes that reach the cellar are always perfect. We start with a soft pressing of the bunches and light contact with the skins. Foaming in the autoclave then takes at least 6 weeks, to give the yeasts time to do their work, giving the wine personality and depth. In the glass, one thus discovers a wine characterised by a beautiful, brilliant, straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections, persistent perlage and minute grain. The nose is complex and fine, with hints of abate pear, lime blossom and wisteria. There is also a distinct almond scent. In the mouth, the wine is intense, fine and elegant, reminiscent of ripe apple and pear. Traditionally, it is served at the end of a meal, to accompany simple desserts of short pastry, perhaps garnished with almonds.
