£16.00

Sergio Mottura Orvieto DOC 2023 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Sergio Mottura With its ‘iconic’ porcupine logo prominently displayed, this bottle certainly does not go unnoticed. We are talking about Sergio Mottura’s Orvieto DOC, a true symbol of the Latium company. The estate’s vineyards are located in the municipality of Civitella d’Agliano, one of the five municipalities in Lazio included in the Orvieto DOC. This area, the southernmost of the production area, is located between the volcanic hills of the Vulsini mountains and the valley of the Tiber river, which represents the natural border with Umbria. The grape varieties that form the basis of this Orvieto DOC are Procanico and Grechetto, both native varieties that have been rooted in this land for centuries. The Procanico offers freshness and fruity notes, while the Grechetto adds complexity and a slight note of bitterness that balances the wine’s aromatic profile well. Harvesting is manual and selected and takes place in two phases: the Grechetto in the first half of September and the Procanico in the first half of October. After the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and the must, left to rest at a low temperature, undergoes racking. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, again at a low temperature, and is followed by a period of maturation on the lees lasting several months. Only then does bottling take place. In the glass Mottura’s Orvieto DOC is limpid. The nose releases delicate aromas of green apple and pear, enriched by a fresh citrus note of lemon. In the mouth it is light, with a lovely freshness that makes it extremely pleasant to drink. The finish is soft and persistent, with a fruity aftertaste that leaves a very pleasant impression. Due to its freshness, it goes well with fish dishes, shellfish and fresh salads. It is also ideal with light appetisers or fresh cheeses.
