Al-Cantàra “Luci Luci” Etna Bianco DOC 2021 – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Al-Cantàra Today we find ourselves in the picturesque setting of north-eastern Sicily, and to be precise in Randazzo, on the northern slopes of Etna. It is here that this Etna Bianco DOC Luci proposed by Al-Cantìra was born. The fruit of a unique territory, this wine comes from the fortunate mix of volcanic soils and altitude. The vineyards, in fact, are 620 metres above sea level, where the microclimate is particular, characterised by strong temperature excursions between day and night. The protagonist is the Carricante, a native Sicilian grape that has found its ideal habitat here, on the slopes of Etna. The vineyards have an average age of 18 years and, facing north, enjoy a slow and constant ripening, thus preserving the typical acidity and aromaticity of this grape variety. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed. A temperature-controlled fermentation follows, which helps to keep the fresh and delicate aromas of the initial fruit intact. Subsequently, the wine matures for 6-9 months on the lees, adding complexity and structure, and a further 12 months in the bottle. In the glass, the wine has a fascinating straw-yellow colour. On the nose, it offers an aromatic bouquet that fully expresses the typicality of Carricante, with aromas of white flowers and fresh fruit, yellow apple and hints of tropical fruit. A subtle mineral note further enriches the olfactory profile. In the mouth, on the other hand, it stands out for its freshness and depth. Marked savouriness and a fine, elegant and persistent finish leave a pleasant sensation of balance and harmony. Perfect with shellfish, white meats and mature cheeses, it also elegantly accompanies vegetable dishes.
