Vignaioli di Scansano “Scantianum” Sangiovese Toscana IGT – Country: Italy – Capacity: 0.75 Vignaioli di Scansano Once in a while, a nice honest and sincere red that does not require years of aging in the cellar to be enjoyable. On the contrary, this 100% Sangiovese offered by Vignaioli del Morellino is a wine that lends itself perfectly to being enjoyed immediately, within two or three years of the harvest. Aged in stainless steel and bottled as early as the spring after the harvest, this wine is perfect to start a dinner with friends. Maybe a barbecue, with as an appetizer a nice slice of old-fashioned salami. Here, with that preparatory salami, this is the perfect wine. In the glass it has a beautiful deep ruby red color, with intense and pleasant aromas reminiscent of wine that has just been made (experts would define them as “winey”). Fresh fruit notes, with plums, blueberries and blackberries. In the background, a pleasant presence of sweet spices. On the palate, it is juicy and moderately structured. Dry, though appropriately soft, it is a well-balanced wine in all its aspects. The finish, decidedly long, guarantees an equally long pleasure.
